The planned community of Westlake Village sits between the borders of Los Angeles Country and Ventura County. The city is made up of a number of small neighborhoods and the 2010 U.S. Census of Population and Housing recorded 8,270 residents called Westlake Village home.
Like much of the real estate in Los Angeles County, the median value of owner-occupied housing units between 2006 and 2010 was well over the statewide median value of $458,500, reaching $825,700. Data from the Census also showed there were 3,384 housing units at an average density of 614.7 per square mile as the majority, 84.2 percent, were owner-occupied while renters occupied only 15.8 percent.
The 2010 Census listed the median age of residents as around 49 years old, and 21 percent of the population was under the age of 18, while 21.2 percent were 65 years of age or older.
