The city of Pasadena is the ninth-largest city in Los Angeles County and has become a hub for science and technology as well as arts and culture. With exceptional schools, a plethora of public parks and great neighborhoods, Pasadena has become a popular place for families.
According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the city was home to 137,122 residents and the population increased 2.4 percent between 2000 and 2010 while the overall population of California jumped 10 percent.
Data from 2010 shows there were 55,270 households, with 55.9 percent made up of families. The census also listed that 24,863 homes were owner-occupied while renters occupied 30,407. While the median household income between 2006 and 2010 was just over the statewide average at $65,422, the median value of owner-occupied housing units was $657,300, matching the value of most real estate in Los Angeles County.
The census listed the median age of residents of Pasadena as around 37 years old, and 19.3 percent of the population was under the age of 18 while 13.5 percent were 65 or older.
