With its close proximity to the Los Angeles International Airport, the city of Inglewood is one of many very popular cities in sunny Los Angeles County. Covering just over nine square miles, the 2010 U.S. Census of Population and Housing reported a population of 109,673 residents with a population density of 12,062 people per square mile. Between 2000 and 2010 the population of Inglewood decreased 2.6 percent while the overall population of California went up 10 percent.
According to the 2010 census, the prices for homes in Inglewood are notably more affordable than other real estate in Los Angeles County with a median property value of $175,000. Data listed the median age of residents in the city of Inglewood as being around 32 as the city has become a family community with 86 percent of its homes listed as family households. The owner occupancy rate is 37% while 63% of the housing units are occupied by renters.
The census shows that in 2010, 26.7 percent of the population was under 18 years of age while 9.4 percent was older than 65.
