Located in Southern California, the city of Oxnard is just 35 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and is one of the most populated parts of the state. The 2010 Census of Population and Housing reported there were 197,899 residents of Oxnard, up 16.2 percent from 2000. The overall population of California increased 10 percent in the same time.
The data shows there were 52,772 housing units in Oxnard at an average density of 1,345 homes per square mile. Owners occupied around 55.7 percent of homes while 44.3 percent were rented. The median value of owner-occupied homes between 2006 and 2010 was $454,700, just under the statewide average of $458,500 but still comparable to other homes in Los Angeles County.
The 2010 Census listed the median age of those living in Oxnard as around 30 years old, also nothing that 29.8 percent of residents were under the age of 18 while just 8.3 percent of the city's population was 65 years of age or older.
