Located in the Simi Hills of Ventura County, the city of Oak Park is located in the Conejo Valley near Malibu and Agoura Hills. The 2010 U.S. Census of Population and Housing reported that 13,811 residents called Oak Park home, down slightly from the previous tally conducted in 2000 when the population was 14,225. The population density was 2,610.6 people per square mile.
The city continues to be a popular place for families as 40.9 percent of 5,158 households had children under the age of 18 living in them. Like many other homes in Ventura County, the majority of homes in Oak Park were owner-occupied, 74.5 percent, according to the 2010 census. Additionally renters occupied 25.5 percent of homes.
Data also shows the median value of owner-occupied housing units between 2006 and 2010 was $715,800, well above the California median value of $458,500. The above-average value is likely linked to the median household income of Oak Park, which at $118,709 is nearly double the statewide average of $60,883. Information from the census also reveals that the median amount spent on rent each month was $1,894.
