The city of Moorpark is located in Ventura County and has similar features of most cities in Southern California, offering residents warm weather and a high-ranking public school system. The 2010 Census of Population and Housing reported there were 34,421 residents living in Moorpark, a 9.6 percent increase from the census in 2000. Between 2000 and 2010, the overall population of California increased 10 percent.

The median value of owner-occupied homes between 2006 and 2010 was $609,000, higher than the statewide average of $458,500 and competitive with prices of homes for sale in Los Angeles County.
The 2010 Census listed the median age of Moorpark residents as between 34 and 35 years old and 27.5 percent of the population was under the age of 18 years old while only 7.1 percent were 65 years or age or older.
