The city of Bellflower is a well-known suburb of busy Los Angeles and has been home to a number of professional athletes including Jeff Kent and Valentino Pascucci. The 2010 Census of Population and Housing reported 76,616 people called Bellflower home, a 5.1 percent increase from the 2000 Census. California's overall population also went up, increasing 10 percent over 37 million.

Data shows the median value of owner-occupied homes between 2006 and 2010 was $423,400, considerably less than most homes for sale in Los Angeles County and below the statewide average value of $458,500. The monthly median rent paid between 2006 and 2010 was $1,094.
Information collected by the Census Bureau listed the median age of residents of Bellflower as around 32 years of age and 28.4 percent of the city's population was under the age of 18 while 8.6 percent were 65 years of age or older.
