Estate built for writer Thomas Mann listed for lease

The Los Angeles Times reports that the home constructed for award-winning author Thomas Mann has joined the list of homes in Brentwood that are open for renters. The former home of the Nobel Prize-winning author is available for lease at $15,500 a month.
Mann won the Nobel Prize in literature back in 1929, and has written a number of novels, short stories and essays but is best known for his short story Disillusionment. The Times reports that he arrived in the U.S. after fleeing from Germany in the 1930s and was the inspiration for the song Is That All There Is by Peggy-Lee.
The new source says the home was built in 1939, sits on nearly an acre of land and offers 5,266 square feet of living space including five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Other features of the California estate include a large family room, a study, built-in storage and shelves and a bar. The property also has a swimming pool and a waterside cabana.
While is has not been reported if any celebrities have been spotted checking out the home, many big names live in and around the Pacific Palisades/Brentwood neighborhoods.
