With the recent success of The Amazing Spider-Man, screenwriter Alvin Sargent may have sold his home in Santa Monica to move into something bigger and better. While records show he bought the estate with his late wife Laura Ziskin for $11.85 million, the buyer removed it from the list of homes for sale in Los Angeles after paying $11.1 million.
The Los Angeles Times reports the home was built in 1942 but offers plenty of privacy, as it sits behind a large gate on half an acre of land. Sargent is best known for his work on Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, but has earned Oscars for Julie and Ordinary People, both released more than two decades ago. Ziskin was also a well-known name in Hollywood, as she produced As Good as It Gets, Pretty Woman and the Spider-Man films.
With four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, the buyer may be a celebrity with a growing family or a young musician who will take advantage of the home's swimming pool and host parties.
